Sandile Seabi is managing director of CNC Rainbow.

As MD, Sandile oversees the coated bits, tooling and cell work we supply to workshops.

Day to day that means working with router shops, cabinet makers and small machining cells to pick the right cutter geometry and coating for the material on the bed, whether that is melamine-faced board, acrylic sign blanks, aluminium composite panel or a dense hardwood.

A large share of Sandile's time goes into bulk tooling orders for production floors, where flute count, shank size and coating have to suit the spindle speed and feed rate so a batch of bits lasts the full run instead of burning out halfway through a sheet.

Sandile also looks after the regrind and recoat side of the business, checking returned bits for chipped edges or coating wear and advising when a tool is still worth refurbishing.
